Title: Who’s the enemy?
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. – Ephesians 6:12
I see the word engage and my mind goes to movies that have battle scenes in them like Braveheart or 300. They give us a brutal image of what engagement looks like in battle. In both movies it was clear who the enemy was and clear how they were going to fight. It’s not always clear to us.
Who is our enemy? That is the key to engaging in spiritual warfare is understanding who our enemy really is. Satan and his army are very well organized, and they are busy fighting God and God’s people. We just need to understand that our battle is with Satan and his demons. So many times our engagement can be misguided. This is exactly what the enemy wants, he doesn’t want us to engage him directly, he wants us to battle with others. So knowing Christ has our backs and knowing Satan has already lost the battle should give us the courage in the battle.
