Sin is a state of being, a disease – and one of its nastiest symptoms is pride. Lucifer was cast down to the earth because of pride – a self-sufficiency that placed his allegiance on himself rather than God. [Isaiah 14:12-15] Our broken humanity exalts self-sufficiency and disparages dependency. Yet we are called to surrender ourselves to God. This is easy to talk about but difficult to practice – it goes against our old nature. The Holy Spirit is called “The Helper.” Ask Him to help you to surrender your pride and live in absolute dependence on God. He’s good.
Real men lean on the Helper.
