“This has been my practice: I obey your precepts” – Psalm 119:56
I don’t know why, but when I was a kid and I would hear the word “obey,” it really made the hair on my neck stand up. Maybe it’s just me but it made me not want to obey or listen; it was like a challenge to do the opposite and not comply. I didn’t like anyone telling me what to do.
Then I had kids of my own and I found myself using the word with frequency. Then it hit me that when I use this word, I had my kid’s best interests in mind. God feels the same with us; He wants us to comply and follow his commands for our own good, and it gives us direction, safety and protection. It is comforting to realize that God always has our best interests in mind.
Real Men Obey and Listen to God.
