Title: A simple thought
Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12b
“Set an example.” How should that look? Back in Philadelphia, when Benjamin Franklin lived there, the city was rough. You for sure didn’t want to be out at night. The crime was high, and it was just not wise to be out and about. So the story has it Benjamin tried to convince people to put lights outside their homes, but no one listened or seemed to care. So one night, he decided to put a kerosene lamp out on his porch. It lit up an area big enough to reach the street. A few nights later, a neighbor put one up, then another, and so on.
I like this story because it gives us the how to set an example. A simple thought to make his little area feel safe and warm positively impacted a city.
Let us look for ways to put your lamp out there.
