Title: God will fill the gap
Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12b
In the movie Glory, an enlisted man is promoted to an officer’s position. As the Colonel pinned on his stripes, the enlisted man looks to the Colonel and says, “I’m not sure I want this.”
“I know exactly what you mean.” the Colonel replies.
When I look at how I can be an example, I think like the enlisted man. I’m unsure how well I could be an example in one of these areas, let alone all five.
“Lord, are you sure You want people looking to me as their example?”
If you are unsure, God could use you as an example in speech, life, love, faith, or purity, and then you are right where He wants you. As a pastor of mine once said, “Your weakness and God’s strength make the perfect combination.”
Real men set an example and let God fill in the gaps.
