Title: Deep Souls

Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12b

When Paul wrote these words to Timothy, he was writing to a young pastor of a new church. It was a lot to ask of a young man who was probably overwhelmed with all of his responsibilities. But Paul was confident in his request, not because Timothy could pull it off but because of the deep work Christ was doing in Timothy’s soul.

God wants the same thing for you and me: to be an example to others. We can choose to manufacture an example that is born out of our effort, or we can let God forge a deep work in our souls that produces this kind of example. The former will inevitably fade as life’s pressures beat down. The latter will sustain us through the best and worst moments of life.

What kind of example does God want to make of you? Are you allowing him to do the deep work in your heart? Or are you manufacturing an unsustainable facade?

Real Men are Examples to Follow.

Milo and his family currently live in North Carolina, where he is a staff Chaplain for MAG-14 at Cherry Point, NC. As a staff chaplain, he is responsible for the spiritual well-being of over 1200 marines and their families. He does this by participating in training events, deploying with the squadrons he covers, providing a constant presence of support and working with the command in facilitating general care and response in the face of family/unit emergencies.

Milo and Bethany have been in full-time ministry since 1999, and have enjoyed a wide variety of experiences and opportunities. In 2003, God brought Andrew into their lives, and in 2005 Olivia was the fourth addition to the family. Milo has stated repeatedly that God’s greatest tool in shaping his theology, philosophy of life and walk with Christ has been his family. Woodworking, riding his motorcycle, movies, camping, and time with his family are some of his favorite things to enjoy.
