Title: God will fill the gap
Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12b
In the movie Glory, an enlisted man gets promoted to officer. As the Colonel pins on his stripes, the man looks at him and says, “I’m not sure I want this.”
“I know exactly what you mean,” the Colonel replies.
When I think about being an example, I feel like that enlisted man. I’m not sure I could do well in even one of these areas, much less all five.
“Lord, are you sure You want people looking to me as their example?”
If you feel unsure, God can still use you as an example in speech, life, love, faith, or purity. That means you are right where He wants you. As one of my pastors once said, “Your weakness and God’s strength make the perfect combination.”
