Title: Find your strength.
The Lord is the Strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. – Psalms 28: 8
While Psalms connect to the ideas of ‘Strength’ and ‘Steel,’ I like to look back at Genesis. On opening day, as I sit in the blind, I pray for a good harvest. I often think about the difference between hunting for food and hunting for a trophy, and it’s always a tough choice for me. I believe that when God guides my aim, I find success. The Bible gives several examples where people are allowed to eat animals, showing that hunting for food is part of our story. After the flood, God told Noah, “Every moving thing that lives shall be your food.” In Genesis 27:3, Isaac asks Esau to hunt game for a meal, which shows that hunting was a way to provide. These quiet moments alone with God, talking and listening, help me find strength.
