Title: Mutual Confession
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. – James 5:16
James teaches us that mutual confession and prayer bring physical and spiritual healing. Confession can free us from the heavy burdens of unresolved sin, physically and spiritually, and remove hindrances to the work of the Holy Spirit. Confession to another in the body of Christ is essential because hidden sin can isolate us. Confession breaks the power of secret sin.
Because this is mutual action those who listen to a confession of sin also have a great responsibility. Those who hear the confession should respond properly: loving, intercessory prayer, not human wisdom, gossiping, or “sharing” the need with others.
