Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8
“Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.” Are we just talking gold statues and ornate shrines here? Is this relevant today? Any human-made thing that requires you to turn away from God to engage with it is an idol. Pornography or strip clubs are stark examples. But other subtle, acceptable things can begin to turn our focus from God: cars, phones, hunting, entertainment, work. Stay focused on God and enjoy what he has given you.
Real men are honest about the things that turn them away from God.
