Mon // Surrender :: Idols

Title: Could an idol be anything?

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8

What exactly is an “idol”? Is it an image carved out of wood or stone that people bow down to and worship? Could an idol be something more? Like work or sports or family or even the Bible itself?
What if an “idol” was anything we worshipped instead of Jesus Himself?
An idol could be anything that consistently grabs our allegiance, attention, and devotion. We were created to live in relationship with Jesus Christ, and many things can distract us from that relationship, even good things. When we settle for “good” instead of insisting upon what’s “best” for us, we usually end up in trouble.
Good is often the enemy of great. Demand the best. Refuse to settle. Jesus Christ deserves your absolute best each and every day. Pursue Him with everything you’ve got!

Real Men flee idols and pursue Jesus.
