Title: Centerpiece
Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8
Colossians 3:5 gives us a list of idols: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed.
When these things become the driving forces of our lives, they become the centerpiece instead of our relationship with Jesus Himself.
Greed is the most interesting item on this list, in my opinion. At first glance, it doesn’t seem to fit with the other items, does it? But the more you think about it, when we want anything more than we want Christ, we are acting greedy, aren’t we?
All of these items will inevitably lure us away from the most important part of our lives – our relationship with Jesus Christ Himself. Let’s be sure to focus on that relationship today. Let’s make sure we bury everything else that gets in the way of our relationship with Jesus, concentrate on what it means to love, and serve Him with every ounce of our being!
