Title: Let go

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8

I’m a movie fanatic. One of my favorite series of movies is the Indiana Jones trilogy(not including the recent film). In the third installment, we watch as Indiana Jones and his father chase after the Holy Grail before the Nazis reach it. When Indiana Jones finally reaches the Holy Grail, he must race back to his father. The latter lies wounded to use the healing power it is said to possess. Of course, he passes the test and completes the task, but as he does, an earthquake hits, and the grail slips to a ledge. His Father holds one hand as he reaches out with the other to try and grab the grail. His Father calls out to him to let it go, and in so doing, he pulls Indy to safety. What idol is your Father asking you to let go of? They could be sins, but they can also be blessings that He has given you that have now supplanted Him. Let it go. Your Father is still holding on, but he is also calling out to you to let it go.

Real Men reject idols and choose their Father’s love.

I'm just an everyday red blooded Irish American. I love my wife Jill, and my kids, Audrey and Payton. I have worked in law enforcement for 15 years. I enjoy camping, shooting guns, and watching movies and sports(Go Beavs!). I'm inspired by those living a radical Christian life, and I love ministries committed to attacking social justice issues related to poverty and victimization through the love of Christ.
