Title: God First

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8

Men, do you have Idols? Do we know what an idol is? I believe we all have them; unfortunately, there are some we don’t realize or recognize.  As Christian men, we must know that anything that prevents our focus on God first is an idol. Being disciplined often means things like our careers, hours, and hours of time; then, the leftover time goes to God. For me, the caution of possessions, I must work hard at making sure God is a priority above all things, including my favorite idol, my cabin; as I sit and write these blogs from the cabin, I have learned God is not saying we can’t have things and all things come from him, we need to be disciplined enough to ensure they are all secondary to HIM and his work for us. 

Real Men remove Idols from God’s focus.

Rebecca and I have lived in SW Florida since 2018, moving from Valparaiso, IN, where they raised three children, William III, Patrick, and Rachel. Bill and Rebecca have been married for 29 years. I currently work for White Lodging Services, and Rebecca is officially retired from school teaching. As a couple, we attend Cape Vineyard Community Church in Cape Coral, FL. Rebecca and I are very active at Cape Vineyard: Rebecca in children’s ministry, and I in band media and supporting facilities.
My interests include Hunting/Fishing and traveling with Rebecca to visit the children and grandchildren. My happy place is the UP of Michigan, where Rebecca and I share time their now.
