Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. – Proverbs 16:18 NIV
When I was a teenager and started getting “a little too big for my britches,” my mom used to remind me about the truth of Proverbs 16:18. “Pride come before the fall,” she would say. And those words have continued to haunt me to this very day; in a good way of course. I believe it’s important for us as men, to regularly remind ourselves that we are not the center of the universe. There is a God, and I am not Him. My goal is to humbly place myself at the feet of Jesus and trust Him to be the leader of my life. When I put myself on the throne, I inevitably mess things up – BIG TIME. How could you intentionally place your pride aside today and learn to humbly trust God with one specific area of your life?
