Monday // Surrender :: Idols

Title: Being disciplined to put God first.

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8

Idols, while we think of the first commandment, “No other Gods before Me”. We must realize and be cautious, things we like or enjoy far too often, before long, these become idols. Unfortunately, some do not realize or recognize.

Being disciplined often means that things like our careers, hobbies, and even our possessions can become idols. As Christian men, we must know and teach others that anything that distracts us from God first is an idol.

God is not saying we cannot have things, since all things come from Him; we just need to be disciplined to ensure they are all secondary to God and his work for us.

Real Men remove Idols and place God first.

Rebecca and I have lived in SW Florida since 2018, moving from Valparaiso, IN, where they raised three children, William III, Patrick, and Rachel. Bill and Rebecca have been married for 29 years. I currently work for White Lodging Services, and Rebecca is officially retired from school teaching. As a couple, we attend Cape Vineyard Community Church in Cape Coral, FL. Rebecca and I are very active at Cape Vineyard: Rebecca in children’s ministry, and I in band media and supporting facilities.
My interests include Hunting/Fishing and traveling with Rebecca to visit the children and grandchildren. My happy place is the UP of Michigan, where Rebecca and I share time their now.
