Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. – Proverbs 16:18
Sin is a condition, like a disease, and one of its worst symptoms is pride. Lucifer was cast down to earth because of pride, which meant he relied on himself instead of God. [Isaiah 14:12-15] Our broken humanity often values independence and looks down on needing help. Still, we are called to give ourselves fully to God. This is easy to say but hard to do because it goes against our old nature. The Holy Spirit is known as “The Helper.” Ask Him to help you let go of pride and depend completely on God. He is good.
