The word “pride” often lies at the heart of our sinful nature and desires. We all have wants and needs, and those aren’t always wrong. The problem starts when pride creeps in and we begin to think we deserve everything we want.
When we start believing we deserve something or that we are always right, pride can push us to act in ways that aren’t good. This can lead to trouble, making us feel far from God and convincing us that our actions have no consequences. But that’s not true. The verse makes it clear that if we ignore God’s will, we shouldn’t expect things to go well.
