Title: Pride leads to a fall.
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. – Proverbs 16:18
Steve Bedsole’s recent blog is an excellent reminder for me. I was a prideful hunter, believing I was superior to others. I was focused on success, the big Buck, the number of game to harvest, and the need to prove my worth through it. Over the years, I learned to be a humble deer hunter, acknowledging my dependence on skill, much luck, and nature, and understanding my limitations. Had to learn that pride leads to a fall, as in this scripture.
I learned self-assessment and how to understand my strengths and weaknesses. With my time in the wilderness now with God, knowing he controls the harvest, I am driven by a genuine love for the outdoors and by a desire to be a good steward of what God gives me.
