Title: Foot in the mouth
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up – Ephesians 4:29
Oh, the old foot-in-the-mouth disease; we have all been there. When I was a kid, it seemed like we were always talking about and making fun of someone or being talked about and made fun of. Looking back, the reason I did it as a kid is the same reason I have done it as an adult; to elevate myself above others. A few words can tear someone down fast. I am sure we have been in a spot when we were talked about, so we know the feeling.
Why can’t we think of those uncomfortable feelings before we speak? Building people up doesn’t seem easy because it feels funny and not very manly. It takes a humble man to encourage and build others up. It takes a real man to think of others first and to recognize an opportunity to say or do something nice for someone. Choose to build someone up today, and let’s think before we speak.
Real Men build and encourage one another.
