Title: God’s Temple
Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. – Romans 12:1b
Our bodies are God’s temple. Think about that for a minute. In the Old Testament, God’s dwelling place was the temple. The tabernacle was considered the Holiest of all places because God’s spirit lived there. It was a place of sacrifice, holiness, and prayer.
If we truly want God’s Spirit to live in us, then we need to let Jesus cleanse our bodies like He cleansed the temple and allow Him to drive out all of those things that are unholy in us. We need to make it a house of prayer, holiness, and sacrifice. This is the true worship that God desires of us.
This concept is counter to all that our selfish desires tell us. We want to consume. We want to sin. We want to own our bodies and be in control of them. We need to man up and lay down our lives, offering them as a sacrifice to God. He deserves it. He’ll do more with our lives than we could ever dream for ourselves.
