Title: High stakes
Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven – Matthew 10:32
This isn’t the acknowledgment we do when we pass each other, or a head nod, or a “what’s up?” (If you have time, check out the whole chapter) Jesus is sending his disciples out to the towns to proclaim “the kingdom of heaven.” Not only to speak about it but to perform miracles in His name.
There is really no such thing as a “secret” Christian. Each individual Christian life should provide sufficient evidence – evidence visible to the world – that they are indeed Christians. When we go out into the world and acknowledge and proclaim His name, there is risk and opposition by Satan and by others. In some parts of the world, today, Christians are arrested, separated from family, and persecuted. Those are some of the sacrifices we make when we acknowledge Him, not just in word but also in actions. The good news is, He will acknowledge us before God.
