Title: He Is Holy
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. – Psalm 99:5
Some passages in the Bible confound me. When I read them, I struggle to find the proper meaning. This is not one of those passages. This verse paints a very literal picture. First, David tells us to “Exalt the Lord our God.” Next, he shows us how to exalt him by “worshipping at his footstool.” In doing so, I place God in his lofty place and myself in my rightful place of humility at his feet. Why do we do this? Because “He is holy.”
Do you desire to escape the sin that pride brings about? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Are you overjoyed at a significant accomplishment or milestone? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Are you overwhelmed by the pain of significant loss? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Those who heed these words honor a Holy God.
