Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:58
I worked at our church relief center, which became a distribution point for goods in our area after a hurricane. At the end of every day, we would have to clean up and reset for the next day. I hated that part because it was tedious work. Still, it needed to be done so we could serve the hurting more efficiently. Through the relief effort, more than a few families we helped came to know Christ as their Saviour. I love today’s verse. We are encouraged to keep on doing the work because it is not in vain. The work we do may not seem essential, but remember, we serve a God who sees the whole picture, not just part of it the way we do. Sometimes doing the work of God can be mundane and seemingly trivial, but we never know how this kind of work can clear a path for someone seeking God.
