“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor” Psalm 82:3
At a recent marriage retreat, the speaker, addressing the roles of men in their households, physically stood before his wife and shouted: “if you want to get to my wife or my family, you must go through me”!While this may seem slightly exaggerated to you, he made the crucial point that the world and the devil will come after your family, and you are their defender. This responsibility can feel overwhelming at times. But, if you’re a man with a wife or family, the only other choice you’ve got is to let the wolves in. The good news? God is on your side; through prayer, you need to invite Him to join the battle with you. He is a force to behold. In this world, there are sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. You’ve probably never thought it was cool to be a sheepdog, but there is no higher calling for a family man.
Real Men choose to be sheepdogs.
