Title: Our war
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. – Ephesians 6:12
We may carry the metaphor of “the sword of the spirit” too far, envisioning ourselves hacking through demonic goblins’ hordes. This may be true on a spiritual level. But consider the actions we take on the physical level as warfare: praying for enemies, feeding the hungry, engaging with the unloved. This is part of spiritual warfare. My favorite picture of this is a friend of mine who baptizes people at a place called Hell’s Gate. While the enemy tries to kill us, we help usher people into a new life.
Real Men are engaged in the war for every soul.
