Title: Take courage

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power – Ephesians 6:10

Courage comes in many forms. Sometimes it happens when we are put in an unforeseen circumstance. However, the courage Jesus displayed on this day, over 2,000 years ago, is different. He knows what he is facing. Jesus knowingly approaches his death, fulfilling prophecy and demonstrating that his death is part of God’s plan. He chooses to serve God’s will over his own comfort, setting an example of ultimate submission and courage. Jesus shares the Passover meal (the Last Supper), washes his disciples’ feet, and institutes the sacrament. He then agonizes in the Garden of Gethsemane and is arrested. Through his courage, a new covenant is made. Jesus institutes the Communion/Lord’s Supper, establishing that his blood is shed for the forgiveness of sins.

We can take courage in all things, knowing Jesus paid the price for sin and defeated death. There is nothing left to fear.

Real men are courageous in Christ.
