Title: Chaos

“Be still, and know that I am God; – Psalm 46:10a.

There’s some pretty powerful imagery in Psalm 46. Amidst cataclysmic natural disasters of summer blockbuster proportions, God’s dwelling place remains firm and unshakeable. During ancient warfare, God shatters the bows of trained archers and the spears of the best militia. He sets fire to the chariots, bringing a sudden halt to advances around the world.

In this context, we are told, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

What’s shaking around you today? What seems overwhelming? What seems cataclysmic? What arrows and spears seem to be aimed at you?

Real men know God is still powerful in the midst of chaos.
