Title Just pray
…pray continually – 1 Thess 5:17
Have you ever run out of gas? I have. I wasn’t paying attention to my gas gauge, and the next thing you know, the engine just stopped. Continually watching to see how much gas you have is not something you do automatically. In fact, it’s probably the last thing you think about once you get into the car.
The verse for today is a simple command: pray continually. But is it something you really pay attention to? Do you get up in the morning, say a quick prayer (which may look more like a wishlist), and then never pray again that day, or do you really stay in prayer all day? It takes a firm conviction to pray continually, and life sometimes gets in the way. I get it, guys, but we must be men of prayer, and I’ll go out on a limb and say that if you stop and listen, you may hear the Spirit telling you how and when to pray. I’m fortunate to have a job where I can always pray. It didn’t happen immediately, and it took discipline to develop the habit. Once you begin to develop this discipline, stick to it, guys, and it will start to become natural.
