Title: When We Serve
As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. – Joshua 24:15
When I was a kid, I loved working on cars with my dad. At first, all I did was bring him tools and cold drinks. As I got older and learned more, he let me do bigger jobs. There was one time I didn’t want to help and complained the whole way to the garage. That day, my dad taught me a lesson I’ve since shared with my own kids. He told me, “If you’re going to help, then stop complaining and give me your all.” The repair took hours, but watching my dad stick with it is a memory I really value. That day, he showed me what grit means.
The verse says, ‘as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.’ It doesn’t say we will complain while serving. If we only complain about serving God, we might miss something important He wants to show us about Himself. We need to work hard and serve, because as scripture says, faith without works is dead. I know this might sound tough, but let’s stop complaining and be steady in our service to God.
